Join Mark Hall-Patton (Clark County Museum, Pawn Stars) for a talk on the man whose name graces Lake Mead and who was one of the most important individuals to affect water in the western states.

Starting in Wyoming, Elwood Mead wrote water law, oversaw irrigation projects, and eventually served as the first Commissioner of the Bureau of Reclamation. Learn about his history, culminating in the building of Hoover Dam and the creation of Lake Mead, which bears his name. Also hear about the five towns, including St. Thomas, lost in the aftermath of the lake.
