Learn a new style of poetry in this safe and creative environment. Every skill level and writing background welcome. Write and read during workshop time to get constructive feedback.

Do you remember when you first discovered haiku? Explore the traditional haiku structure beyond the three-line, five-seven-five syllable guidelines and embrace the spirit of this ancient poetry and its endless possibilities. Whether you're a published poet, a grand-slam champion, or have never written a poem, this workshop is for you. The casual evening will include generative prompts and writing time. You'll go home with a new poem or two!

Heather Lang, a poet, writer, and literary critic, was voted Las Vegas' 2017 Best Local Writer or Poet by the readers of KNPR’s Desert Companion. She holds an MFA in Poetry with a certificate in Literary Translation from Fairleigh Dickinson University, and she works as Adjunct Faculty Coordinator for Nevada State College where she also teaches Composition and Asian Literature. Read more about her here.

This project is funded in part by a grant from the Nevada Arts Council, a state agency, and the National Endowment for the Arts, a federal agency.
