This session will help you recognize the contributions of LGBTQ peoples, understand the connections among race, gender, and sexuality in American civil rights history, and appreciate the roles of cities and towns like Las Vegas and Henderson.
Marcia Gallo, Associate Professor of History at UNLV, teaches courses on race, gender and sexuality as well as oral history and public history. She published her first book, the prizewinning Different Daughters: A History of the Daughters of Bilitis and the Rise of the Lesbian Rights Movements in 2004, and "No One Helped": Kitty Genovese, New York City, and the Myth of Urban Apathy in 2015.
