Reading with Rover

My name is Kola! I am a 7 year old male Shepherd-mix. My fur is black and brown and my eyes are beautiful brown. I live in a wonderful loving home with my owners, Tricia and David. These nice people adopted me on February 4, 2006 from the Henderson Animal Shelter. My true birth date is not known, be we agreed to celebrate my birth as February 8, 2005!

When I arrived at my new home, I was overwhelmed by the amount of room I had to chase rabbits, quail and other small creatures. I learned how to use the “doggy door” on the first day!

I sleep on my own bed in Tricia and David’s room. I spend most of my time with Tricia. We try to go for a walk together every day. Some days we take a long walk in the desert and she lets me off leash to run as much as I want! However, when Tricia calls my name, I always know to stop and run back to her!

Reading with Rover Kola

I graduated from the City of Henderson’s Dog Obedience Class and I have accomplished the American Kennel Club Canine Good Citizen certification. (think college degree!) I became a member of Therapy Dogs Inc. in 2006. This allows me to visit the local hospitals to see patients and be part of Henderson Libraries Reading with Rover program.

I am an “only dog” now, but I did share my home with two other dogs, Coca and Dodger. Coca and her owner, Jeremy, now live in Portland, Oregon. Dodger lives with Jennifer in South Lake Tahoe, Nevada. I get to see them when we travel to their homes or they come to visit me.

I really enjoy children reading to me! I can’t believe you will read to me each week! What fun!
