Field painting is "painting in the raw," and the techniques demonstrated in this class will prepare participants to explore acrylic painting from the perspective of a traveler or tourist. Participants will learn what materials to use, how to select a location, how to gain an understanding of scale, texture and design, and how to use color through mixing, layering, and brush stroke techniques to represent what is in front of them. The object of the class will be to bring viewers out of the art studio and into the natural world where they will gain insight into how painting can enrich their travels.
For ages 10 and up, but children 10-12 must be accompanied by a parent or responsible adult.
This project is funded, in part, by a grant from the Nevada Arts Council, a state agency, and the National Endowment for the Arts, a federal agency.
